MUZAFFARABAD:

Five passengers died, and three others sustained injuries when a passenger coach skidded off the road and fell into a deep ravine due to poor visibility after heavy snowfall in the Haveli district of AJK.

According to the police, the passenger coach, traveling from Forward Kahuta to Rawalpindi, met with the accident in Mahmood Gali after the driver lost control due to snow and fog.

As a result, the vehicle plunged hundreds of feet into the ravine. The police stated that five people died on the spot, while three others were injured. Relief workers recovered the bodies and the injured and shifted them to nearby hospitals.

The region, along with several other parts of the country, has been experiencing rain and snowfall this week, intensifying cold conditions and disrupting traffic. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more rain and snowfall in the coming days.

Meanwhile, in AJK's Leepa Valley on Saturday, a glacier collapse stranded two vehicles on the Leepa-Reshian Road. The trapped vehicles reportedly carried two women, a child, and six men. In K-P, rain and snowfall was expected in Kohistan, Mansehra and Abbottabad.
