ISLAMABAD:

With each passing day of the holy month, markets in the federal capital become busier as people rush to complete Eid preparations.

The increasing swarms of shoppers looking to buy Eid dresses in bazaars also reflect an increasing demand for tailoring and stitching. Unlike ready-made outfits, getting clothes stitched from tailors can prove a more affordable option for many, which also allows people to bring their own designs to life.

Given the fast-approaching deadline, people have already given their clothes for stitching, since around this time tailors stop booking orders since they need to wrap up their work and prepare for their own Eid festivities which they celebrate with their families in their native towns.

Abid, a tailor in Sector I-10, stopped booking new orders to avoid overload of work and to also ensure that current orders are managed efficiently. He said that he has stopped booking new orders as he and his workers are looking forward to celebrating Eid with their families at their native places.

Some tailors demand extra charges for stitching at this time. Arif, a tailor in Sector I-10 Markaz is demanding Rs2,000 per suit instead of Rs1,500 due to the overload it would lead to for his workers. He said that "We have closed booking for new orders but due to the customers' insistence, we are forced to increase the charges."

Most of the tailors are still booking orders this year as it is a good opportunity for higher income. Hashmi tailors and Zain tailor, for instance, increased their number of workers especially for the Eid season so that thy are able to stitch maximum clothes and earn more for their families.

"The twenty days from 10th to 30th Ramazan are seen as an opportunity to work hard and collect more income that can be spent on Eid celebrations," said Wahab, the owner of Hashmi Tailors, a shop located in Sector I-10 Markaz.
