Jonathan Majors, the once-rising Marvel actor, was convicted of assaulting his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari and sentenced to probation alongside a mandatory 52-week domestic violence intervention programme. The conviction followed a March 2023 altercation that left Jabbari with a fractured finger and a cut behind her ear.
The jury reached a split verdict—acquitting Majors on two charges but finding him guilty of third-degree assault and second-degree harassment. Though he maintains his innocence, his legal troubles have cost him key roles, including his part as Kang the Conqueror in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Despite the public fallout, Majors continues to receive high-profile support. Whoopi Goldberg, who appeared with him in his first on-screen role, said, “He was arrested. He went to court. He did what he was supposed to do. I’m not sure what else there is.”
Matthew McConaughey, who worked with Majors in White Boy Rick, added, “I’ve known and know him as someone who is continuously striving to improve as a human, a man, and an actor. I believe in him.”
Michael B. Jordan, who directed and starred with Majors in Creed III, said, “I would love to make Creed IV together—among other projects.”
The case was further complicated by pretrial statements from two of Majors’ former partners, who also accused him of abuse. During the trial, Jabbari testified to frequent emotional and physical aggression, including a warning from Majors discouraging her from seeking medical care.
Since his conviction, Majors has lost representation and roles but remains in the public eye. His film Magazine Dreams is slated for release on March 21, 2025.
