Armed men rob family by putting gun to infant's head

Crime Reporters Association seeks immediate action, justice for journalist's family

KARACHI:

Armed men, riding motorcycles, robbed gold jewellery and other valuables at gunpoint from the family of a local newspaper's chief crime reporter and former president of the Crime Reporters Association, Kashif Hashmi. A case has been registered at Yousuf Plaza police station. The incident occurred in Federal B Area on Saturday. Crime Reporters Association has demanded immediate arrest of the robbers.

Four robbers, on two motorcycles, took hostage Hashmi's sisters-in-law and sister travelling in a rickshaw, at gunpoint. The robbers held a pistol to the infant's head, forcibly stripping the three women of their gold jewellery. During the ordeal, the women suffered injuries to their hands.

The gang fled the scene after the incident. The Crime Reporters Association has expressed strong reservations regarding the crime of robbery against women, condemning the incident, and deeming it a continuation of looting in the city. The association's spokesperson urged police and law enforcement agencies to thoroughly investigate the incident, track down the robbers, and apprehend them immediately, ensuring they face justice.
