Eight Pakistan cricketers fined up to Rs3 million for misconduct
Eight Pakistan cricketers were fined a total of Rs3 million for various code of conduct breaches during the home Test series against England in October and Pakistan's tour of Australia in November.
All-rounder Aamir Jamal received the largest fine of approximately RS 1.3 million for wearing a cap with a political slogan during an interview in the first Test against England in October last year.
Jamal, during an interview, wore a cap having '804' written on it. The number is former Prime Minister and legendary all-rounder Imran Khan's prisoner identification number, who's currently held in Adiala Jail in Ralwalpindi.
Three additional players were fined Rs 500,000 each for arriving late at the team hotel during Pakistan’s white-ball tour to Australia in November 2024.
Four more cricketers—Salman Ali Agha, Saim Ayub, Abdullah Shafique, and Abbas Afridi—were penalised for violating curfew regulations during the team’s white-ball series in South Africa.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) stated that disciplinary actions remain an internal matter to protect players' reputations.
The fines come amid heightened scrutiny following Pakistan’s early exit from the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025. As defending champions, they failed to win a single match, suffering defeats to New Zealand and India before their final group-stage fixture against Bangladesh was washed out.
