Literary Journal: Second edition of Lums’ Bunyaad out

Sponsored by the Gurmani Foundation aims to work for the advancement of Urdu, Arabic and Persian languages

LAHORE: The Gurmani Centre for Languages and Literature (GCLL) at the Lahore University of Management and Sciences has published the second edition of Bunyaad - a Journal of Urdu Studies. The centre sponsored by the Gurmani Foundation in April 2010 aims to work for the advancement of Urdu, Arabic and Persian languages. In his editorial, Dr Syed Nomanul Haq, the research and publications in charge at the Centre has highlighted the importance of Urdu language publications in literary circles of Pakistani schools. The journal also has an English section compiled by Bilal Tanweer. The contributors include Abul Kalam Qasimi, who has explored humour and sarcasm in classical Urdu poetry, Sean Pue, who has compared the poetry of Faiz Ahmed Faiz and NM Rashed and Uzma Khan, who has written on Jalaluddin Rumi’s letters. It also contains contributions from Saadat Saaed, Tabassum Kashmiri and Moinuddin Aqeel.
