Pak urges unified SCO action to counter terror

Consultations on the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation's international activities and regional security were held at the level of deputy foreign ministers of SCO member states in Moscow, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
The consultations focused on enhancing coordination among the SCO member States to advance the organization's international initiatives. Special attention was paid to strengthening the SCO's regional security architecture and modernizing its mechanisms to effectively address contemporary challenges and threats within the SCO region.
Ambassador of Pakistan to the Russian Federation Faisal Naiz Tirmizi, represented Pakistan at the meeting. During his remarks, the Ambassador provided a detailed overview of Pakistan's diplomatic efforts aimed at facilitating "Islamabad Talks."
Highlighting the SCO's significance as a crucial platform for enhancing regional peace, security, and cooperation, as well as its influence in global and regional matters, he emphasized Pakistan's dedication to the SCO's aims and principles, alongside the UN charter and international law.
The ambassador stressed the importance of strengthening coordinated efforts to combat terrorism, extremism, and illegal drug trafficking, as well as ensuring comprehensive security and sustainable development within the SCO region and globally.
The ambassador held a brief meeting with the heads of the delegations of Russia, Belarus, Tajikistan, China and Kyrgyzstan to discuss key issues related to cooperation within the SCO.
