RAWALPINDI:

With devotion and humility, worshippers continue their prayers and acts of charity as the first ten days of Ramazan conclude.

Across Rawalpindi city and Cantonment areas, philanthropists and welfare organisations have ramped up their efforts, hosting dozens of Iftar kitchens and community dining tables, where the number of fasting individuals partaking in meals is steadily increasing.

Feeding the hungry and providing Iftar meals to the fasting is being widely embraced this Ramazan. Households are distributing snacks like pakoras, dates, fruits, and beverages at their doorsteps, while numerous community kitchens in the city serve a variety of Iftar meals, with some even offering full-fledged Iftar dinners. Before breaking their fast, attendees pray for the prosperity and well-being of the nation, as well as for the success of oppressed Muslim communities in Palestine and Kashmir.

Among the prominent charity kitchens this year is the Royalty Langar in Gawalmandi, established by the late senior journalist Asghar Shad.

Another notable initiative is the Iftar Dastarkhwan at District Kachehri, organised by Advocate Saeed Yousaf Khan for the past 15 years. Other significant setups include the Abbasiya Welfare Dastarkhwan on Jamia Masjid Road, Saddar, and Murree Road's Gulshan Dan Khan area, the Benazir Bhutto General Hospital Iftar table, and the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce's grand Iftar spread. Additionally, the Saylani Dastarkhwan has been set up at Taj Company on Liaquat Road, Commercial Market, and Holy Family Hospital.

A large number of people not only break their fast at these communal dining spaces but also receive packed meals, fruits, and essentials for their families.

Organisers say the peace of mind and spiritual fulfillment they experience while arranging these meals is beyond words. They also commend the generosity of donors who contribute in the name of humanity.
