Chinese among 3 held for human trafficking

FIA claims suspects lured Pakistani girls with fake marriage, job offers in China

ISLAMABAD:

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested three suspects, including a Chinese national, at Islamabad International Airport for attempting to smuggle a Pakistani girl to China under the pretext of marriage.

According to authorities, the suspects were trying to deceive the girl by offering her a job in China, which was a front for human trafficking.

The incident occurred while a briefing was underway for flight CZ6034. During routine checks, FIA Immigration officials detained Chinese national Shogui (Yusuf), Abdul Rahman, and Muhammad Nauman, along with the girl.

Upon investigation, it was revealed that the suspects were trying to traffick the girl under the guise of marriage, with plans to send her to China.

The girl was also taken into custody.

Preliminary investigations showed that the suspects, part of a larger organised network, were involved in arranging marriages between Pakistani girls and Chinese nationals for employment opportunities.

The agents would target poor and vulnerable girls, convincing them to marry Chinese men.

Abdul Rahman and Muhammad Nauman would then provide the girls' data and documents to their Chinese counterparts.

These agents would arrange Chinese clients for the girls for large sums of money.

The suspects also arranged the girls' travel documents and other necessary arrangements.

In one case, the mother of a victim was reportedly extorted Rs1 million, of which 150,000 rupees were paid as part of the deal.

Furthermore, the suspects coerced the victim into signing an agreement to borrow Rs1 million, likely for blackmail purposes. Authorities have confirmed the arrests, and further investigations are ongoing.
