A gaping pothole on the bridge built over the canal on Sujawal Bypass Road has become a death trap for unsuspecting commuters, leading to frequent accidents.
Despite the growing risk to motorists, the district administration has yet to take any measures to fix the pothole.
The deteriorating condition of this bridge endangers thousands of vehicles traveling daily to and from major districts, including Tharkol Site, Mithi, Thar, Badin, Islamkot, Karachi, and Hyderabad.
Public transport, including buses and trucks, as well as private vehicles, rely heavily on this route, making the situation even more alarming.
The severity of the issue was highlighted once again on Saturday night when Hafiz Saadullah Memon, President of the National Press Club Sujawal, became the latest victim of the dangerous pothole.
While travelling on the bypass road, his vehicle lost control while trying to avoid the pothole and overturned.
Luckily, he survived the crash, but the incident underscores the need for repairs and exposes the negligence of the district authorities.
Citizens and commuters are now demanding action from the Sindh government and the district administration.
They are calling for the urgent repair of the bridge and the closure of the pothole to prevent further accidents. Frustration is growing among the locals, with warnings that if swift action is not taken, they will have no choice but to stage protests.
Authorities must act before more lives are put at risk.
