
Chaudhry Raza Subhani, the main accused in a murder case, on Wednesday managed to dodge the police and escape from court premises after his bail before arrest plea was rejected by the judge.
The family of the deceased youngster, Mubashar Iqbal, accused Saddar police of facilitating Subhani’s escape. Subhani and his nine are accused of torturing Iqbal to death and injuring Rizwan after kidnapping the two from their homes in Saahowal, Sialkot.
The other nine accused are Shahid Pehalwan, Billo, Rashid, Ghulam Rasul, Muhammad Sultan, Ameen Chatta, Boota alias Haji, Sharafat and Haji Boota Sharif. Subhani had already obtained a bail before arrest and on Wednesday he had appeared before Additional District and Session Judge (ADSJ) Malik Muhammad Shabir to attend the case proceedings. After arguments by both sides, the judge rejected Subhani’s bail before arrest. The judge also rejected the bail pleas of Rashid, Ghulam Rasul, Sultan, Ameen Chatta, Haji Boota and Sharafat. According to the FIR, Subhani, who belongs to influential Variyo family, and his men tortured the two youth accusing them of theft on July 9, 2011.
