Govt urged to crack whip on profiteers
The Consumer Association of Pakistan (CAP) Chairman Kaukab Iqbal, has said that controlling inflation is possible only through the consumer unity.
He stresses that consumers must not pay extra and purchase goods at official rates especially during Ramazan. He urged the consumers to identify profiteering traders and report the matter to the authorities concerned.
Iqbal made these remarks during a visit to various markets in Baldia Town. He was accompanying Provincial Minister for Bureau of Supply and Price Control Usman Ghani Hingoro, MPA Asif Musa, and Assistant Commissioner Baldia.
The purpose of the visit was to inspect prices and check petrol pumps metres.
During the visit, a filling station was found delivering less quantity of fuel against what shown on the metre. The pump was sealed on the instructions of Hingoro.
Additionally, milk sellers were found manipulating measurements, and immediate action was taken against the shopkeepers.
