How to make your perfume last longer: Here’s the solution
Many perfume lovers are frustrated when their favourite scents fade within hours, but according to a fragrance expert, common mistakes may be to blame.
Perfume experts suggest that people are often too cautious with their application, which limits the longevity of their fragrance.
“We don’t have to go overboard—we don’t need to douse ourselves—but we can use a little bit more than one spray,” Experts advise.
Key Areas to Apply Perfume
Wrists: Expert recommends spraying both wrists instead of just one, and crucially, avoiding rubbing them together. "Not because you're damaging the formula, but because we can apply another spray to the other wrist."
Chest: Applying a spritz under clothing, directly on the chest, helps extend the scent’s longevity. The warmth from the skin allows the fragrance to diffuse gradually.
Hair: A lesser-known trick, expert says, is applying perfume to the hair—but with caution. Instead of spraying directly, expert advises spritzing perfume into the hands first, letting the alcohol evaporate, and then running the remaining fragrant oil through the ends of the hair.
Since hair doesn’t retain heat like skin, it slows down scent evaporation, allowing the fragrance to last longer.
