IRSA warns of declining reservoir levels

.

ISLAMABAD:

IRSA has issued a warning to all four provinces about declining water levels in major reservoirs, cautioning that the Tarbela and Mangla dams could reach dead levels in the coming days.

In an advisory on water shortages, IRSA warned that despite recent rains improving the situation temporarily, Punjab was currently experiencing a 20% water shortfall, while Sindh was facing a 14% deficit.

The advisory further noted that the concerns had already been raised in previous committee meetings.

IRSA stated that while more rainfall was forecast in the coming days, a lack of precipitation could push the water shortfall to 35%.
