After resisting a vociferous demand of the legal fraternity, which encompassed protests from blocking the highways to boycotting the courts for over two weeks, for over a month the Sindh government has eventually capitulated.
SSP Hyderabad Dr Farrukh Ali Lanjar, declared as a persona non grata by the lawyers, has been transferred as per a notification issued on Friday evening.
The development ensued with a meeting between Sindh Home and Law Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar and a delegation of the Sindh Bar Council (SBC), led by its vice chairman Shafqat Raheem Rajput. It also occurred a day before the Hyderabad District Bar Association (HDBA) was scheduled to embark on a large march to Karachi for a sit-in protest outside the Chief Minister House.
Dr Lanjar has been posted as Personal Staff Officer of the home minister while the incumbent PSO, Adeel Hussain Chandio, will swap Lanjar's position.
