The FBI has placed former Canadian Olympian Ryan Wedding, 43, on its Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list for allegedly leading a transnational drug trafficking network and orchestrating multiple murders.
The announcement was made by Akil Davis, Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office, during a press conference in Westwood.
Wedding, who competed in the Giant Slalom event at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, is accused of overseeing a criminal operation that smuggled hundreds of kilograms of cocaine from Colombia through Mexico and into Canada and the United States.
Authorities also allege he ordered several murders to maintain control over his drug enterprise.
To aid in his capture, the U.S. Department of State has announced a $10 million reward, in addition to the FBI’s $50,000 bounty. Authorities in Canada and Mexico are working closely with U.S. law enforcement to track him down.
In June 2024, federal prosecutors in California indicted Wedding and his alleged second-in-command, Andrew Clark, 34, on charges of drug trafficking, murder, and running a criminal enterprise.
A few months later, a superseding indictment in September expanded the case, adding 14 more defendants and linking Wedding’s group to further acts of violence.
Authorities believe Wedding and Clark ordered the killings of two individuals in Ontario, Canada, in November 2023 in retaliation for a stolen drug shipment. Another murder was allegedly carried out in May 2024 over a drug debt.
