Four people killed while resisting robbery attempts since the start of holy month

KARACHI:

Four people have been killed by ruthless muggers since the start of the holy month of Ramazan as police have failed to stem the tide of rising violent street crime in the metropolitan city. The latest casualties have taken the number of robbery-related deaths so far this year to 18.

In the first incident, 20-year-old Waseem was critically shot while resisting a motorcycle-snatching attempt on Superhighway near Punjab Bus Stand in Sohrab Goth on March 4. A day earlier, Imran, 28, was fatally shot near Radio Pakistan, also in Shah Latif Town, while 65-year-old shopkeeper Khan Muhammad was gunned down in Abdullah Shah Ghazi Goth on March 2, the first of Ramadan.
