Kings vs Nuggets 110-116: DeRozan makes NBA history despite loss to Denver
Denver Nuggets beat the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday 116-110 in a close encounter on Wednesday night.
The Sacramento Kings, without Domantas Sabonis and Malik Monk, fought to an early lead and relied on DeMar DeRozan to carry the offence.
Sacramento surged ahead by 13 points in the first quarter before Denver responded to tighten the contest. With two key players sidelined, the Kings needed a strong performance from either Zach LaVine or DeRozan. The latter delivered, erupting for 33 points and leading Sacramento in a crucial game.
DeRozan also made league history, surpassing Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing for 27th on the NBA’s all-time scoring list with a three-pointer late in the first quarter.
The veteran forward, acquired by the Kings in an offseason sign-and-trade with the Chicago Bulls, is averaging 21.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.9 assists while shooting 48.9% from the field this season.
At 35, DeRozan remains one of the league’s top shot-makers and continues to be a key contributor. He now sits just behind Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry on the all-time scoring list and has the sixth-most points among active NBA players. His experience and scoring ability could prove valuable as the Kings push for a deep postseason run.
