Home Minister Manzoor Wassan has presented his own set of numbers for arms licences issued in Sindh, which differ from those quoted by the inspector general of police. According to Wassan, from 1947 to 2000, the total number of arms licences issued by the provincial government was 713,000. A day earlier, the IG had told the Supreme Court, that the number was 50,000. Wassan also gave different statistics for the licenses issued from 2001 to 2011, the last ten years: 188,115. The IG had put the number at 500,000.  Wassan also said that Dr Zulfiqar Mirza’s statement, that he issued 300,000 million licences during his tenure, was baseless.
