16-year-old Lansdowne High School student fatally shot near campus
A 16-year-old Lansdowne High School student was shot and killed Tuesday afternoon near the school’s campus.
According to Baltimore County Police, the shooting occurred on Hollins Ferry Road, where the victim was standing outside a liquor store. The suspect opened fire, prompting the victim to flee across the street toward Lansdowne High School as the gunman continued shooting. After the victim collapsed, the shooter walked up and fired additional rounds before fleeing the scene.
Authorities believe this was a targeted attack. "Appears to be a targeted incident," said Baltimore County Police Chief Robert McCulloh.
The victim, who was not in school that day, was transported to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The incident led to a lockdown at Lansdowne High School, with parents directed to pick up students from a designated area. In a statement, Principal Allison Seymour informed parents that all after-school activities had been canceled as a precaution.
Police are continuing to investigate and have urged anyone with information to come forward. No suspects have been identified at this time.
