Petition challenges Nawaz, Maryam over funds use

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued notices to relevant authorities, seeking their responses on a petition challenging the alleged misuse of Punjab government funds for the personal and political promotion of PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

Justice Farooq Haider took up the petition filed by Ashba Kamran, who argued that public funds meant for welfare and job creation were instead being used for the political branding of Nawaz and Maryam.

The court then directed the concerned authorities to submit their replies within two weeks.
