The Christian community, alongside their Muslim neighbours, have also begun their fasting period, known as Lent, from today.
Many Christians have been busy preparing for the religious season and upcoming Easter festival.
The number of worshippers in churches has also seen an increase during this time, and to ensure their safety, the district administration and police of the twin cities have devised a foolproof security plan for churches.
Police personnel have been deployed at all church locations, CCTV cameras have been installed inside churches and church administrations have been instructed to appoint their own security guards.
As per religious custom, after completing forty days of fasting, the Christian community will celebrate the Easter festival next month in April.
