Pursuit of interfaith harmony pledged

Abid Chand recalled the late Shahbaz Bhatti'struggle for the rehabilitation of impoverished segments of the society

The Pakistan Minorities Democratic Party (PMDP) paid tribute to the late former federal minister Shahbaz Bhatti on his death anniversary in a ceremony organised on Monday.

PMDP Chairman Abid Chand and other leaders and members lit candles in the memory of the late Shahbaz Bhatti.

Abid Chand recalled the late Shahbaz Bhatti'struggle for the rehabilitation of impoverished segments of the society and creating interfaith harmony across the national mainstream.

He said Shahbaz Bhatti had remained active in his struggle for protection of the rights of all communities in the light of the vision of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinah.

He vowed to move forward with the mission of the late federal minister for interfaith harmony and promised that the minority communities would continue to play their constructive role in national development.

Hospital depts.

The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) protested at Nishtar Hospital against a decision to transfer some departments to the Nishtar-II healthcare facility.

The protest demonstration was also joined by young doctors, paramedics and nurses' organisations. Patients and their relatives facing a delay in services also participated in the protest.

A large number of doctors gathered at the main gate of of the hospital and staged a demonstration.

The leaders stated that Nishtar-II is a separate teaching hospital and it should have its own staff and budget.
