LAHORE:

Lahore Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza has issued a revised price list for essential commodities ahead of Ramazan.

According to the notification, ten price Basmati rice has been set at Rs245-Rs250 per kilogram and daal chana (small) at Rs270-Rs275. Other revised rates include daal masoor at Rs255-Rs260 per kg, daal mash Rs440-Rs450 and fresh milk Rs170 per litre. The price of mutton has been fixed at Rs1,600 and beef at Rs800 per kg.

However, the notification made no mention of wheat flour and sugar—two essential household staples.

Consumers had complained that shopkeepers had been selling the commodities at up to 40% higher than the official prices.

The cost of fresh produce has also surged, with the price of melons increasing from Rs100 to Rs150 per kg within two days. Banana prices reached Rs300 per dozen, while strawberries now sell for Rs400, up from Rs250.
