Drake has reached a settlement with iHeartMedia in his legal dispute over alleged pay-for-play airplay of Kendrick Lamar’s diss track Not Like Us, according to court records.
The rapper initially filed a legal petition in Bexar County, Texas, in November, accusing iHeartMedia of accepting illegal payments from Universal Music Group (UMG) to boost radio spins of Not Like Us. UMG, which represents both Drake and Lamar, remains a target in the case.
A court document filed Thursday confirmed that Drake and iHeartMedia had “reached an amicable resolution of the dispute,” though details of the settlement were not disclosed.
“We are pleased that the parties were able to reach a settlement satisfactory to both sides, and have no further comment on this matter,” Drake’s legal team stated. iHeartMedia declined to comment.
The claims against UMG, however, remain ongoing. Drake has accused the label of engaging in “irregular and inappropriate business practices” to push the song, which he argues falsely portrays him as a sex offender in its lyrics, artwork, and music video. A hearing on UMG’s motion to dismiss the case is scheduled for Wednesday in San Antonio.
In a separate lawsuit filed in January in New York, Drake is suing UMG for defamation over the alleged false accusations made in Not Like Us. Lamar himself is not named in that lawsuit.
The feud between Drake and Lamar, two of hip-hop’s biggest artists, has escalated in recent years, with Not Like Us being one of the most controversial tracks in their ongoing rivalry.
