Kourtney Kardashian and Kendra Wilkinson are facing intense backlash after attending a protest against the disposal of hazardous fire waste at the Calabasas Landfill. The two stars were photographed alongside a protester holding a sign that read: “Dump the toxic waste in Kettleman Hills & Buttonwillow, NOT BY OUR HOMES & SCHOOLS.”
Critics quickly accused them of advocating for waste to be dumped in lower-income areas instead of their own wealthy neighbourhoods. Social media erupted with comments condemning their stance.
Kendra Wilkinson initially shared the unedited photo on social media but later cropped the sign, further fuelling the controversy. Kourtney Kardashian, who has been previously criticised for excessive water use during California’s drought, also faced accusations of hypocrisy.
During the protest, Kardashian gave an interview urging officials to “protect Calabasas” and “find a safer, better place” for the toxic debris.
She later doubled down on Instagram, arguing that fire waste should be transported to a “desert where there are no people in harm’s way.”
However, critics argued that simply relocating hazardous materials does not solve the environmental crisis and shifts the burden onto already vulnerable communities.
The protest came after L.A. County Superior Court Judge Stephen Goorvitch rejected an injunction to halt the landfill disposal. Despite the legal setback, local residents—including Kardashian and Wilkinson—are continuing their campaign against the toxic waste being stored near their homes.
