Bushra Ansari crowned Star of Pakistan in the UK

Veteran actor Bushra Ansari was awarded with the Star of Pakistan honour at the UK Parliament on Wednesday, becoming the first female artist to achieve this feat. Celebrating the accomplishment on Instagram, she wrote, "So happy to receive the honour at the British Parliament today! Thank you, God."

As per digital creator Rida Salman, who also attended the event, Maria Saroya hosted the evening and led with a presentation in honour of Bushra. "Tonight, we are not only here to celebrate an incredible artist but also to pay tribute to her invaluable contributions to entertainment, arts, and culture. Bushra Ansari has inspired generations, breaking barriers and paving the way for aspiring artists, particularly women, in Pakistan and beyond," Maria said.

Political figures also attended the prestigious event, including Afzal Khan MP and Yasmin Qureshi MP, who also led the ceremony as a host. "It is an honor to welcome Bushra Ansari to the British Parliament and recognise her remarkable contributions to the arts and her work with the overseas community," Yasmin said.

Many fans and peers commended Bushra on social media, including film and TV star Fahad Mustafa, who wrote, "More power to you."

Previously, another actor to accept an accolade from the UK Parliament was Mahira Khan, who received the Award of Recognition in November. "This recognition and award was completely unexpected but also a sweet end to my stay here in London," she wrote on Instagram.

Talking about all who have contributed to her ever-growing success, Mahira added, "I spoke about how if there is one adjective I am uncomfortable with is when I am called a 'self-made' woman. I have been blessed to have had the family I have, the friends I grew up with and those I made along the way. My life, the ups and downs, some very special colleagues, and coworkers who have supported me and played a vital role in where I am today. Those before me who paved the way for me to get here. My fans and, oh, the kindness of strangers! Alhumdulillah."

She stressed upon the team-effort aspect of her life in her note. "One may not be able to see it, but if you look closely, I'm not alone. I'm standing on the shoulders of so many," she wrote. "I have been chosen by God out of millions to be in the position I am in, and I must act like it. I must pay it forward, give back, open doors for others, and work hard - honestly and humbly. Yes, this is a note to myself."
