Netflix to release 'American Manhunt: Osama bin Laden' docuseries in March
A new Netflix docuseries, American Manhunt: Osama Bin Laden, delves into the 12-year hunt for the world’s most wanted terrorist, featuring firsthand accounts from the people who tracked him down. The three-part series premieres on March 10.
Directed by Mor Loushy and Daniel Sivan, the documentary includes interviews with US government officials who played key roles in the operation.
The newly released trailer opens with a chilling recollection from a former official, recalling CIA counterterrorism chief Cofer Black’s words to then-President George W Bush after 9/11: "If you let me do it, I’ll have flies walking on their eyeballs in six weeks."
However, the search for bin Laden took over a decade, as he repeatedly evaded capture before being located in Abbottabad, Pakistan. The trailer’s final moments build up to the raid that led to his death.
Loushy and Sivan stated that the documentary aims to shift the focus from geopolitics to individuals who faced “impossible dilemmas and tough decisions” in the mission.
"This is not the story of the United States and the War on Terror. It tells the story of the people tasked to find the world’s most wanted terrorist and bring him to justice," they said.
The filmmakers aim to provide an immersive experience, taking viewers inside the meeting rooms, helicopters, and the Oval Office, offering a real-time perspective of history.
"To understand history, we must look beyond the maps and superpowers to the people who were there, on the ground," they added.
