Court grants bail to 27 PTI workers
The bails of 27 PTI workers who were accused of being involved in the November 24 and 26 cases were granted, while the bails of another 1,152 accused workers have been fixed after three months.
The hearing of PTI workers who had been under arrest for three months in Central Adiala Jail and Attock Jail was recently held. Moreover, the hearing of the GHQ attack case against all those accused, including the founding chairman of PTI, scheduled for Tuesday, February 25, was heard by Judge Amjad Ali Shah in the district court instead of Adiala Jail. All the accused in the case were summoned to the district court. No more proceedings will be held with regards to this case and no witness statement will be recorded.
The court had also fixed the bail applications of all the accused arrested in the November 24 and 26 PTI protests for Wednesday, February 26. The court had issued notices to the lawyers of the parties and also sought complete records from all police stations. The Division Bench of the Rawalpindi High Court ordered the completion of bail applications of all the accused in the November 26 protest within a week as per the rule and evidence in their cases. Decisions on all these applications will be taken by Saturday, March 1.
Until now, the court, has granted bail to 27 accused arrested in the Nov 26 cases and ordered their release.
