KARACHI:

Mohajir Qaumi Movement Chairman Afaq Ahmad was released from Karachi Central Jail on Tuesday, receiving a warm welcome from the party workers.

Instead of going home directly, Afaq first visited the residence of a 10-year-old boy, Saim, who was killed in a dumper truck accident last week. The boy's parents become emotional during the visit.

Speaking on the occasion, Afaq said that the city's residents were being treated like animals, but he would continue to play his role regardless of the circumstances. "I will not back down from the struggle I have started. I will announce my future strategy through a press conference." he said. Afaq also appealed to K-Electric and the Water Corporation to restore water and electricity supply to the city, which had been suspended for five days. Mentioning that women were protesting on Jehangir Road due to the power outage, Afaq warned that if the water and electricity supply was not restored, he would also join in the protests.

He maintained that dismissing heavy vehicle road crashes as mere accidents or administrative issues was unjust.
