Not just a sweet anymore

Turkish delight makeup trend takes over social media

Two good things about vintage? One, it never goes out of style. And two, it finds unique ways to dominate fashion trends each year. Last year, for instance, saw the revival of matte skin and glossy lips among several other makeup trends. While 2025 still has a long way to go, one makeup trend that is currently taking social media by a storm is the Turkish delight makeup.

To answer the first question that might pop up in your mind, no, this has nothing to do with dabbing jelly confectionery on your cheeks. Rather, this trend is inspired by the sharp-edged makeup looks of Turkish star Türkan ?oray.

This new trend benefits from highlighting the facial features. Start by outlining your brows with stencilled strokes of your concealer. Don't hold back from flushing up the cheeks with a soft pink palette. For the eyes, however, go for pale shades.

Next, line your bottom lids with white kohl to emulate an ethereal look. Now, slide straight across with your eyeliner wings – be careful not to lift the corners up or slide down.

Don't celebrate just yet. Your work with the eyeliner isn't quite done. Aim below the lines of your lower lashes and draw false ones right under your eyes. That's right, this look requires two extra lines of lashes, though these ones don't brush off dust quite like the natural pairs.

Much like your blush, a pink lip colour works best in elevating the otherwise bold look. The key is making a statement, and your layered eyes must be putting in all the work to impress. The rest of the face must be shaped around that.

With social media influencers all over the world trying out the Turkish delight trend, the lip colour may differ depending on skin tone, ranging from blush pinks to blood reds. It ultimately boils down to what highlights your prominent features better while staying true to the overall fluttering eyes look.

And while you're envisioning disco lights and turning on old music, it won't hurt to sprinkle in a beauty mark or two for good measure. Because again, why hold back on when you can fully transform into a retro diva?

Among those who have tried out the makeup look are makeup artist Filiz Koruyan, YouTuber S?eyda Erdog?an, and influencer Makeup by Merna.
