England lose Brydon Carse to injury in ICC Champions Trophy setback
England’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 campaign suffered a major blow as all-rounder Brydon Carse has been ruled out of the tournament due to a toe injury sustained in the opening match against Australia.
Carse, 29, picked up the injury during England’s loss in Lahore on Saturday, where he conceded 69 runs in seven overs.
He had previously missed the final two ODIs against India but returned for the Champions Trophy opener.
Spinner Rehan Ahmed has been named as Carse’s replacement as England look to recover from their opening defeat and push for a semi-final spot.
The 19-year-old has played six ODIs, claiming 10 wickets.
England, placed in Group B alongside Australia, South Africa, and Afghanistan, will face Afghanistan on February 26 in Lahore before concluding their group stage against South Africa on March 1 in Karachi.
