Industrialist, son killed as trailer rams into SUV
An industrialist and his son were killed while another son sustained serious injuries when a trailer hit their vehicle from the rear on the Native Jetty bridge on Monday.
Mohmmad Ashraf Abdullah, along with his sons Naveed Mohammad Ashraf and Usman Mohammad Ashraf, was on his way to their factory Ashraf Enterprises when they met the unfortunate accident.
The impact of the hit by the trailer was so hard that Ashraf's SUV broke the iron fence of the bridge and fell down the bridge. A rickshaw and a motorcycle were also hit. Ashraf and his son Naveed died on the spot while Usman was injured.
They were first shifted to a private hospital and later to the Civil Hospital. Rickshaw driver Shamsul Hai was also injured seriously.
Separately, at least 10 people sustained injuries in a collision between a bus and a trailer near Baldia Hub River Road in Karachi in the early hours of Monday.
According to police, the accident occurred due to the negligence of the trailer's driver. Police and rescue teams rushed to the site and moved the injured to the Civil Hospital.
