Jail allows PTI founder to ring up sons

RAWALPINDI:

Incarcerated former prime minister Imran Khan on Saturday talked to his sons — Kasim and Suleiman — from Adiala Jail, where the PTI founder has been detained since September 2023.

According to sources, Imran held a detailed telephonic conversation with his sons who reside in the United Kingdom from the prison's telephone booth.

They said Imran inquired about his sons' wellbeing and discussed various topics including cricket.

The former prime minister also asked them about weather in the UK, while informing them about the status of the ongoing cases against him and his wife Bushra Bibi, who is also jailed at the same prison.

Sources said the conversation lasted for 10 minutes and later Imran Khan was taken back to his cell.

The PTI founder had filed applications in various courts, seeking directions for the jail authorities to allow him to talk to his children.

According to sources, the jail authorities permitted the former PM to make a telephone call as per the jail manual.

Imran Khan, a cricket star turned politician has two sons from his first marriage with Jemima Goldsmith. He later married Reham Khan, a former TV host, but the marriage did not last long.

The former PM contracted a third marriage ahead of 2018 general elections with Bushra Maneka, who, after the ouster of his government in April 2022, was also booked in a number of cases including corruption cases.
