Cop injured in shootout

A policeman and an alleged robber suffered injuries during a shootout between the suspects and policemen in Rawat police limits on Saturday.

Police managed to arrest two suspects, Junaid and Tariq while two other accomplices escaped from the crime scene.

Mobile phone footage shows that patrolling policemen of Mohafiz Squad were on routine patrol and signalled two motorcycles to stop on the main highway.

The four bike riders, however, opened fire on cops. Police constable Faisal took cover of a truck and returned fire. Both sides exchanged heavy gunfire, resulting in injuries to a suspect and Faisal. A case has been registered at the Rawat police station regarding the police encounter.
