Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has suggested a change in bowling action to Shaheen Shah Afridi, Pakistan's current pace spearhead.
During a live programme on a private TV channel, Amir highlighted the error in Shaheen's action and offered him tips to correct it.
Standing on stage, Amir pointed out the specific mistake in Afridi’s bowling action, explaining how he could improve and become an even more dangerous bowler. He stated that with some adjustments, Shaheen could return to his best form.
Since his injury in the 2022 T20 World Cup, Afridi's bowling has lacked the same cutting edge, causing difficulties in Pakistan’s pace attack.
This drop in performance was particularly evident during the Champions Trophy opener against New Zealand, where Pakistan’s bowlers conceded 113 runs in the last 10 overs, taking just one wicket.
Former captain Rashid Latif, also speaking in the same programme, mentioned that Afridi tends to bowl better against left-handed batsmen, which is why he finds success against them.
However, he struggles to generate the same swing against right-handed batters, which he previously excelled at.
He further suggested that Afridi’s bowling action required some minor adjustments, an area that coaches should have addressed earlier.
