ISLAMABAD:

A member of a constitutional bench (CB) of the Supreme Court on Friday observed that more people die in the country in road accidents than due to terrorism or disease.

"Does the government have any statistics with regard to the people perishing in accidents?" Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail asked while hearing a petition filed against road accidents caused by heavy, overloaded vehicles.

During the hearing, the counsel for the petitioner, Barrister Zafarullah, argued that the real issue lies in the locations where vehicles are overloaded. "Without taking action against these loading points, the problem cannot be controlled," he said.
