Fans have uncovered the reality behind Drake's mysterious drone video after a clip surfaced showing the rapper reacting to a device flying outside his hotel penthouse in Sydney.
The 38-year-old artist, who is currently in Australia for his Anita Max Win Tour, sparked curiosity when footage emerged capturing the perspective of what seemed to be a drone.
The device hovered near the balcony of Drake's upscale residence for a few moments, positioned in front of a laptop beside a glass of rosé, before catching the rapper’s attention.
Startled, Drake quickly grabbed a bright orange slide and wasted no time in throwing it at the airborne intruder.
However, fans quickly noticed that the drone pilot was visible in the reflection of the glass door, while others speculated that the video was "staged" as a promotion for the gambling website displayed on Drake’s laptop.
Comments included: "This is so staged, it's insulting he thought we would believe this;"
"You know how Drake never looks in the mirror? He doesn't know how reflections work. This ain't even a troll, you can actually see the drone operator in the video."
"Reflected in the window... this is getting sad. But we here for it;"
"This is a staged video af to promote Stake.. you can clearly see drone pilot sitting behind the corner. Drake deserves an Oscar for overacting."
"I'm extremely concerned with the apparent tens of thousands of people who can't tell that the Drake drone video is some kind of stunt;"
"That's staged, you can see the reflection of the drone pilot in the window when Drake launched the shoe."
Unfortunately, Drake's aim was off, and his slide failed to hit the drone, though the attempted strike appeared to serve as a warning.
The drone then ascended from the balcony, disappearing into Sydney’s sunny sky.
"Someone flew a drone up to Drake's penthouse in Australia and he tried to knock it down with a slide," the video was captioned.
The account added to the humor by writing: "I'm dead," followed by a crying-laughing emoji.
The post received a wave of reactions from users, with some suggesting that the video was actually a promotional stunt for Stake, an online crypto casino with which Drake is affiliated.
"It's obviously promo for the betting company bro. The acting is doodoo," one user pointed out, to which another responded: "lmao the computer screen is on stakes website too."
Regardless of whether it was staged or not, others were quick to comment on Drake’s slide-throwing skills.
"He looks like a single mother trying to fight a spider," one commenter joked.
