RAWALPINDI/PESHAWAR:

PTI founding chairman Imran Khan's sister, Aleema Khan, has said that her brother remained defiant despite pressure tactics, asserting that he would never strike a deal to secure his freedom.

She alleged that the former premier's spouse Bushra Bibi was being held in solitary confinement to mentally break her and coerce the PTI founder into a deal.

"Pressure is being exerted directly on the orders of the army chief, who directs a colonel to apply the pressure," she claimed, adding that "jail rules and court orders hold no value here."

"He clearly said in our meeting that no matter how much pressure they apply, he will not negotiate," she asserted while speaking to the media after meeting Imran at Adiala Jail on Tuesday.

She also dismissed reports of his deteriorating health, saying that he is "completely fine" and receiving all necessary facilities in prison.

Aleema further revealed that she, along with Salman Akram Raja and K-P Advocate General Shah Faisal, was stopped two kilometres before reaching the jail and had to wait 50 minutes before being allowed entry.

She said that Imran was denied three scheduled meetings with Bushra Bibi, with jail authorities citing "orders from above" as the reason. She also dismissed the alleged leaked audios attributed to her, calling them fake.

Separately, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Omar Ayub has dismissed claims of backdoor negotiations, questioning the government's economic narrative. "Who is the government trying to fool? What economy is actually running?" he said while addressing the media in Peshawar.

He accused the government of intensifying police brutality across the country, particularly in Punjab, and criticised the restrictions placed on lawyers meeting Bushra Bibi and Imran.

"There is no rule of law in Pakistan. We are struggling for the release of our imprisoned colleagues. PTI demands transparent elections," he added.
