Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has opened up about his future in international cricket, acknowledging that every player must eventually bid farewell to the game.

In an exclusive interview with Cricket Pakistan, Sarfaraz said he would step away when he felt the time was right.

“Every player has to say goodbye to cricket at some point. When I feel my time is up, I will leave the sport myself,” he remarked.

Reflecting on his childhood in Karachi’s Buffer Zone, Sarfaraz shared his deep connection to the neighbourhood.

“I still live in the same street where I was born. The people there have always showered me with love and support,” he said.

Sarfaraz credited his success to the streets of Karachi, where he began his cricket journey with tape-ball matches.

“My cricket career started in those narrow lanes, and perhaps my future life will also be spent there,” he added.

The former captain acknowledged that his street cricket days laid the foundation for his achievements.

“The hard work and experiences from those early days are the secret behind my success,” Sarfaraz stated.

Sarfaraz was left out of Quetta Gladiators’ squad for the current Pakistan Super League (PSL) season, with South African batter Rilee Rossouw taking over as captain in the previous edition.

His last Test appearance was in December 2024, while his final One Day International was against South Africa in 2021.
