Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) and the Balochistan government have reached an agreement on improving infrastructure, education, and employment opportunities in Dera Bugti.
According to government spokesperson Shahid Rind, PPL will ensure essential services in the area, including scholarships for 50 students each year at Lawrence College and Cadet College Hasan Abdal. Additionally, 14 diploma holders and seven engineers will be recruited annually, while 50 young individuals will receive specialized training for overseas employment.
As part of the agreement, Sui Model City will be supplied with 10 million gallons of clean water daily.
To minimize environmental pollution, the gas flaring site will be relocated 10 kilometres away. The agreement also includes the renovation of government buildings in Dera Bugti and the provision of modern facilities.
Recruitment under PPL will be conducted strictly on merit, with no room for favouritism. The company has also committed to clearing outstanding dues amounting to Rs60 billion.
Shahid Rind condemned the recent attack on coal miners in Shahrag, emphasizing that the government had swiftly taken measures to ensure the dignified transfer of the martyrs' bodies and medical assistance for the injured.
He dismissed allegations regarding ambulance fundraising as baseless and stated that strict monitoring was being implemented to prevent cheating in matriculation examinations.
