MQM-P holds govt accountable for dumper deaths

MQM-Pakistan's deputy parliamentary leader in the Sindh Assembly Taha Ahmed Khan has written a letter to the Sindh chief minister, holding his government accountable for the increasing casualties in road accidents involving "recklessly-driven dumpers" in the metropolis.

Most victims in such crashes were sole breadwinners for their families, Khan wrote in his letter addressed to Murad Ali Shah highlighting financial hardships of the bereaved families. He called upon the chief minister to announce financial compensation for these families and order strict legal action against the "dumper mafia."

The MQM-Pakistan leader also demanded improved road infrastructure, better street lighting, and stricter regulations to ensure public safety. He held the Sindh government accountable for "continued negligence" and urged immediate action to prevent loss of more lives. Separately, MQM-P MPA Hassan Sabir Advocate regretted that no action was being taken against "killer dumper trucks" due to the government's support for the "mafia."

JI leader calls on IGP

Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Ameer Monem Zafar called on IGP Ghulam Nabi Memon to discuss the rising fatal traffic incidents.

Unfortunately tankers, dumpers, and trailers ply the city roads freely defying their specific timings, he regretted. Usually, the drivers of these vehicles are unaware of traffic rules and even do not have driving licenses, he claimed.

On the occasion, he suggested that the performance of the Traffic Police could be improved with the help of union councils.
