Pakistan trio fined for breaching ICC Code of Conduct
Pakistan cricket team's three players have been fined for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the third match against South Africa in the ongoing tri-nation Series by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)
The incidents occurred during the match at Karachi’s National Stadium, where Pakistani players Shaheen Shah Afridi, Saud Shakeel, and Kamran Ghulam were involved in two separate confrontations with South African batsmen while fielding and bowling.
The on-field umpires, Asif Yaqub and Michael Gough, along with third umpire Richard Illingworth and fourth umpire Faisal Afridi, cited these actions as breaches of the Code of Conduct.
Afridi was fined 25% of his match fee for deliberately blocking South African batsman Matthew Bretske's path during the 28th over, attempting to stop him from taking a run.
Saud Shakeel and Kamran Ghulam were each fined 10% of their match fees for celebrating too aggressively near South African batsman Temba Bavuma after a run-out in the 29th over.
All three players accepted the fines and issued apologies for their actions. The PCB acknowledged the players' behaviour and assured that they would be more cautious in future games.
Yesterday, Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Agha cracked centuries to guide Pakistan into the tri-series final with a thumping six-wicket win over South Africa in Karachi.
Rizwan led Pakistan's highest successful chase in all one-day internationals of 353 in 49 overs with a magnificent 122 not out while Salman slammed 134 for his maiden century at the National Stadium.
Pakistan will now face New Zealand at the same venue on Friday in the final of the event which is a key warm-up for the Champions Trophy which starts next week.
The hundreds made by Rizwan and Salman overshadowed Matthew Breetzke's record of scoring most runs by a batsman in his first two one-day internationals of 150 and 83.
Breetzke's innings had set up an imposing South Africa total of 352-5.
