Jeremy Strong to lead Netflix’s ‘The Boys from Brazil’ remake
Netflix has tapped Jeremy Strong to star in The Boys from Brazil, a TV adaptation of Ira Levin’s 1976 Nazi conspiracy novel.
The project is helmed by The Crown creator Peter Morgan and produced by Suzanne Mackie of Orchid Pictures.
This marks Strong’s first major television role since Succession, as well as Morgan’s first TV series since The Crown. The series will be available on Netflix and Netflix UK.
Originally adapted into a 1978 film starring Laurence Olivier and Gregory Peck, The Boys from Brazil follows a seasoned Nazi hunter who stumbles upon a sinister cloning plot masterminded by fugitive war criminal Dr. Josef Mengele in Paraguay. Strong will take on the role of Lieberman, the investigator originally played by Olivier.
The announcement comes as Strong earns Oscar buzz for his portrayal of Roy Cohn in The Apprentice. He recently wrapped Deliver Me From Nowhere, where he plays legendary music manager Jon Landau opposite Jeremy Allen White’s Bruce Springsteen.
With themes of antisemitism and the lingering shadow of the Third Reich, The Boys from Brazil remains chillingly relevant. Netflix has not yet commented on the project.a
