The issue of slow internet speed in Pakistan was addressed in the National Assembly, where the Parliamentary Secretary for Information Technology provided a clarification on the matter.
During the session chaired by Deputy Speaker Ghulam Mustafa, members of the assembly raised concerns regarding the sluggish internet service in the country. The discussion took place during the question hour, highlighting the growing frustrations among users.
Responding to the concerns, Parliamentary Secretary for IT Sabheen Ghoury assured the house that internet speed would improve by mid-year. She further announced that the launch of 5G services is also planned for the same period.
She explained that multiple factors contribute to slow internet connectivity in the country. However, efforts are underway to address these issues and enhance the overall digital infrastructure.
During the session, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MNA Agha Rafiullah expressed frustration over the poor internet service, stating that even downloading a video had become a challenge. Similarly, MNA Shagufta Jumani referred to an earlier remark by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, humorously noting that some mysterious "fish" always seems to target and damage Pakistan’s internet cables.
The discussion underscored the persistent connectivity issues faced by users across the country while reaffirming the government's commitment to resolving them in the coming months.
