ANP warns against vigilantism, torching of vehicles

KARACHI:

Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan has demanded ban on the movement of trailers, dumpers and bowsers in the city from morning till midnight.

MQM-P Parliamentary Leader in Sindh Assembly Iftikhar Alam and Deputy Parliamentary Leader Taha Ahmed while addressing a press conference in Bahadurabad on Tuesday said that heavy vehicles are killing citizens in the largest city of Sindh.

Alam said that traffic accidents are not an ethnic issue but a human tragedy.

The drivers of heavy vehicles are untrained and drug addicts. He said that what is the department responsible for issuing vehicles fitness certificates doing?

He said that the people should not be pressured so much that they are forced to take the path of protest.

Meanwhile, Awami National Party Sindh President Shahi Syed called for restraint over the knee jerk reaction to the road accidents casude by dumper drivers.

He warned against burning of the vehicles and said citizens had no authority to stop and check the license of the driver and registration of the truck.
