No objections against new delimitations so far
Despite the passage of 10 days, no voter, citizen, political party, or former union council chairmen in Islamabad submitted objections against the new delimitation of 125 union councils and the increase in the number of wards per UC from six to nine.
The final date for filing objections is February 15. The Regional Election Commission Rawalpindi has set up a dedicated counter to receive objections during office hours.
If no objections are submitted by the deadline, the new delimitation will be deemed valid, and a report will be sent to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on February 17.
The final notification of Islamabad's new local government constituencies is expected in the last week of February, paving the way for local body elections.
An official from the appellate authority stated that if any objections are filed by the deadline, they will be decided within two to three days, and a final report will be submitted to the ECP by February 20.
