Awami National Party (ANP)'s central leader and former chief minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has expressed concerns that the country's key institutions and democratic system have been compromised due to political instability in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
Pakistan is stuck in a quagmire of problems, yet sincere efforts to address them are lacking, he said while addressing media persons at the residence of Zakir Khan, Chairman of Village Council Katlang Jamal Garhi, Mardan.
He criticized the current provincial government for prioritizing politics of protest over public service, lamenting that the people of K-P are deprived of basic necessities such as electricity, gas, and other essential services.
He mentioned that load-shedding of up to 18 hours has become a norm during winters, and there are fears that the situation may worsen during summers.
Hoti said that in Punjab, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is actively working for public welfare, ensuring the provision of 24-hour electricity and gas supply to the people.
However, the K-P provincial government's energies are being wasted on political rivalries with the Centre.
"The provincial government is neglecting its public duties. For several years, K-P government has ignored public issues for its political interests and personal objectives, resulting in the people being deprived of electricity, gas, and other essential services," he said, urging that the government's primary objective should be public service, not political rivalries.
