Renovated NSK to be inaugurated today
The official inauguration of the National Bank Arena (formerly National Stadium) will take place on 11th February evening, with a grand opening ceremony. Famous singers Ali Zafar, Shafqat Amanat Ali, and Sahir Ali Bagga will perform at the event, captivating the audience with their musical talent. Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced the details of the opening ceremony on Sunday, promising a grand celebration ahead of the ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025, which Pakistan will host from February 19 to March 9.
Cricket fans attending the event can look forward to live music performances, a fireworks display, and a special light show. "Get ready for another unforgettable night," Naqvi wrote on X. "The grand inauguration of Karachi Stadium is happening on 11th February with spectacular musical performances by Ali Zafar, Shafqat Amanat, and Sahir Ali Bagga. Plus, a breathtaking fireworks and light show to light up the sky."
"Construction work at the National Stadium began on September 28, and, by God's grace, was completed by January 31," said PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. "The pavilion building was completely demolished and rebuilt, while new chairs have been installed in all enclosures," he added.
The National Stadium in Karachi is now fully prepared to host the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi has personally overseen the progress of the renovation work. Thanks to the dedication of the workers, who worked day and night, the project was completed in just 120 days.
New LED lights, modern scoreboards, and grills have been added. The fences around the stadium have been removed to ensure better views for the cricket fans. Hospitality boxes have been renovated, and a new ring road and pedestrian bridge have been built.
