South Africa set a target of 305 runs for New Zealand in the second match of the tri-nation series at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Monday.
Matthew Breetzke was the star of the innings, scoring an impressive 150 off 148 balls, with 11 fours and 5 sixes, anchoring the innings for South Africa.
Wiaan Mulder contributed 64 off 60 balls, and Jason Smith added 41 off 51 balls before being run out. However, New Zealand's bowlers, including Matt Henry and Michael Bracewell, struck crucial blows. Henry took 2 wickets for 59, while Bracewell claimed 1 for 43.
The fall of wickets came at key moments, with Temba Bavuma, Kyle Verreynne, and Senuran Muthusamy all falling in quick succession. Despite a valiant effort from Breetzke, New Zealand remained in control with a disciplined bowling performance.
South Africa's innings ended with the scoreboard reading 304/6, as they sought to set a competitive total for New Zealand to chase.
Earlier, New Zealand won the toss and opted to bowl first in second match of the tri-nation ODI series at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
The Kiwis made one change to their playing XI, bringing in top-order batter Devon Conway in place of Rachin Ravindra, who sustained a forehead injury while fielding against Pakistan.
New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 78 runs in the opening match of the tri-nation ODI series at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on Saturday. Pakistan, chasing 331, were bowled out for 252 in 47.5 overs.
